Amboseli National Park

Amboseli National Park, formerly Maasai Amboseli Game Reserve, is in Kajiado County, Kenya. The park is 39,206 hectares (392 km2; 151 sq mi) in size at the core of an 8,000 square kilometres (3,100 sq mi) ecosystem that spreads across the Kenya-Tanzania border.

Crowned by Mount Kilimanjaro, Amboseli is one of the Africa’s best spots for game viewing and the bird watching. The biodiversity of the park has always been a great attraction for all those visiting to Kenya. The vast herds of wildebeest and zebra, and quite possibly a lion pride with approximately 400 species of birds make this the first choice for everybody taking an East African Safari.

Attracted by the tourist driven economy and the extensive agriculture facility a number of people from the other parts of the country have started settling here with the native Massai people. Mostly the east African parks are visited for the game viewing but Amboseli is the only park where the bird lovers arrive in numbers to watch varieties of birds that include pelicans, kingfishers, crakes, hammer kops and 47 types of raptor.
