3-Day Nanyuki-Culinary Retreat

Escape to the foothills of Mount Kenya for a serene and enriching culinary retreat in Nanyuki. This experience blends authentic Kenyan cooking, cultural connection, and scenic relaxation in one of Laikipia’s most charming highland towns. Over three immersive days, you’ll have achance to join hands-on cooking classes with local hosts, and explore vibrant markets filled with fresh, regional produce. From preparing traditional dishes like ugali, mukimo, and chapatti and more delicacies, to sharing stories over home-cooked meals, this retreat offers a delicious way to engage with Kenyan culture. Set against lush landscapes and crisp mountain air, Nanyuki provides the perfect backdrop for food, learning, and rest.

Day 1 – Arrival & Culinary Welcome

Depart Nairobi by private van in the morning, enjoying the scenic drive toward Mount Kenya before arriving at Wooden Knee Cottages. After settling into your cozy cottage surrounded by peaceful gardens, head to a local produce market with your host to source fresh ingredients. Back in the communal kitchen, you’ll enjoy your first hands-on cooking class—perhaps making ugali with seasonal vegetables or a savory stewed chicken. The host’s warm storytelling and traditional recipes bring Kenyan home cooking to life as you prepare and savor your creations together in a relaxed, intimate B&B setting.
