Volcanoes National Park

The national parks of Rwanda are protected ecosystems and wildlife reserves located within the borders of Rwanda in east central Africa. It is part of the great Virunga volcano conservation region which covers Virunga national park Congo and Mgahinga national park in Uganda. In 1929, the park was extended into Rwanda and now the Rwandan part is being managed by the Rwanda tourism board.

Volcanoes national park Rwanda is best known for the Gorilla trekking In combination with adjoining parks in the neighboring countries, this park is heavily patrolled to protect the extinct Gorillas. Home to some 400 mountain gorillas Rwanda is a great destination in the world. No visit to Rwanda is complete without finding these primitive primates in their natural habitats. The town of Musanze is the hub for Gorilla trekking in Rwanda. You need to have a permit for the gorilla trekking from the park authorities. Recently Rwanda has increased its permit price.

It is not that the Gorilla trekking is the only attraction in the Volcano National park. The guided walk in the mountains to track the gorilla group is awe-inspiring. This would give you the chance to watch the other forest animals with the thrill of hiking. Finding the fast-moving little creatures: the golden monkeys on your way to track the gorilla group are no doubt to enjoy the fun of the Rwandan forest. And finally finding a group of Gorillas resting under a bamboo bush with their kids is the best rewarding African experience. The number of visitors to the park is increasing every year and we only suggest people to watch these primates keeping a safe distance from them and to help us in developing an eco-friendly Gorilla trekking system.
